The new year is here, and with it comes more exciting opportunities. We'll be posting a blog here once a month on upcoming changes, competitions and other news at Ascend.

The Cage Is Coming

I know it has been promised for a while, but construction materials have been arriving in December and preparations have been made to get the cage up by the end of Jan/early Feb. As I've said before, the cage is very large and will provide a second smaller training space to run advanced classes, as well as seeing a return of dedicated no gi MMA classes to the timetable. There will be more updates on how the timetable will change as we get closer to completing the area.

Monday Judo & Muay Thai Are Swapping

We are going to do a trial run of swapping the Muay Thai and Judo classes on Monday, so that Judo will run at 5:30 PM and Muay Thai will run at 6:30 PM. This will hopefully allow some of our Queensland members to make an afternoon Muay Thai session once a week, at least until we return to AEST in NSW. This will be reflected in the timetable as of this Monday the 6th.

Updated Contract And Membership Pausing

Due to discrepancies around when and how to pause your membership when you go away, and rules around what you can do, a new pause request form has been put in place. This form is digital and can be accessed at any time by requesting it from myself. I will also leave a link to the form at the bottom of this page. This form will now be the only way to request a membership pause, and verbal or other written requests will no longer be accepted. This will ensure that I don't forget or miss a pause, and the exact pause dates are clear. Pausing memberships can now be done for a maximum of 4 weeks at a time, however the notice period must be equal to the pause period, for example if you want to pause your membership for 2 weeks, you must submit a pause request 2 weeks before the start date of the pause. You should also find a new contract pops up next time you go to check in on the app that reflects these changes. I highly encourage you to read the new contract and please ask me if you have any questions.

January Competition

We're running a competition this month! To encourage people to check in and get back into training, we're running a competition for the most check in's this month (yes you have to do the classes you check in to). The prize will be a $100 FightHQ voucher, so get training! Just keep in mind, if you don't check in, I won't be doing it for you this month.
